Will Gullatt started
writing and singing after he saw the tribute to Townes Van Zandt on
Austin City Limits after he died on News Years 2000. "Seeing artists
like Steve Earle, Peter Rowan and Lyle Lovett play this man's music
showed the incredible storytelling that could only be done with good
songwriting," he says. " People have said that Townes pulled songs out
of the air, and when I started writing it was easier if I could get my
own self out of the way and listen down deep inside. I used to paint
with oils and if I had a visualization then the actual brush strokes
were easy to create a meaningful piece of work. I think art only really
happens when we let the creative spirit flow through us and manifest in
the medium we have chosen."
